LIEWEN LABORATORY LAPTOP INFORMATION
![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
Liewen Laboratories were a pre-established facility within Ryslig, and both then and now, the building is considered to be one of the forerunners of technology in Bavan City. One of their greatest achievements under the founder himself was The Laptop- but over the course of the time under Noa Kaiba's management of the Bavan Branch, improvements have come to a point where the Laptop Devices are quite different from what a character might find buried in the sand on their initial arrival!
For ease of information, a comparison chart can be found below, followed by a full list of features available on the V-2 Laptops- which are both available for pick up at the Laboratories, and passed out from the Welcoming Committee at certain arrival rounds.
(The Welcoming Committee can't be at each arrival round, due to the dangers that can often arise)
Notably, various improvements were made to the initial model over time as wellmostly because people kept forgetting they had such issues, so the chart below can be referred to for the differences in the Laboratory Models! Further information on the V-1 Laptops can of course be found at the link located above, for those who want to find the really old school versions to work with.
While V-1 Laptops are considered quite bulky, ALL laptops are capable of a network signal from nearly any location (exceptions include the Insect Tunnels beneath Kulen, and certain Event-Based Locations), including water, and lack a tangible power source. V-1 Laptops are more prone to explosive reactions to tampering- though V-2 Laptops may still do similar if one goes too far into the hardware.
All Laptops also include a function to allow text to speech and speech to text, though accessing this feature is easier using the new models. Lastly, all laptops obtained via Liewen Laboratories itself have immediate transmission- uploads to the network are quick, even if image or audio files are involved.

Regarding the V-2 Laptops, they can come in a choice of Four Colours; Fog Grey, Blood Red, Lunar Blue, or Solar Yellow.
Each laptop is equipped with the following:
Those who poke into the settings will find that the Laptop runs on 'WORDMOON 202.0', and that on-screen text can be altered in colour and size for ease of access. There is also an option for Backlighting adjustment, due to the range of sensitivity to light and dark found in monsters.
Further Personalization of the Laptop includes changing the colour of the background! A full 12 colours are available- wow!
For further questions, comment below- if I cannot answer, I will bring it forward to the Mods.

Each laptop is equipped with the following:
- A Log-In Page for security, which is considered separate from the Network Log-In; this is to allow players to utilize the 'automatic username' function the network employs when characters forget to input one for themselves.
- A Desktop Menu, including individual icons for basic applications, the network, and further downloadable applications (such as the V-Pets from McGucket Labs). Navigation is done using a 'TrackPoint' mouse built into the center of the keyboard, before hitting 'enter' to click.
- Full-scale keyboard including 'Function' keys, and unique character keys, as seen on a standard QWERTY Keyboard. Allows for easier formation of emoji. A unique key exists to activate 'Text to Speech' and vice versa, for disabled characters.
- Network compatible features for text formatting, including bold, italic, underline, and strike.
- A separate Application for the Personal Inbox.
- MoonNote, a wordpad application; allows multiple saved files, and added formatting options including bullets, text size, and text arrangement.
- Scribble, a 'paint' application program; virtually identical to basic Window's Paint.
- Camera lens, allowing for photo taking, and short 2 minute video recording; all of these can be saved, or uploaded to the network. Includes a basic Camera application for minor photo edits (cropping and resizing only, quality is limited to 256 colours)
- Built in speaker and mic system, allowing for audio recording and listening. Includes a basic Audio application to record and play-back files.
- WordMoonMini, a Coding Application, allowing players and characters with sufficient skill to create and upload their own programs through the network for others to make use of. This application is separate from the Laptop's primary system.
- Expanded File Storage.
