[The Dewott's manners have earned him sincere, if stern, approval.]
How many people's pets are you looking after, Noa?

[The manticore trails off.] ...Even if their owners and partners vanished, I'm not going to leave them to the wilds here.

[Atem takes one piece of tuna for himself, careful to eat it over the side, not over the water. It'd be very unappetizing to drop it, and a waste of really good tuna.]
Have you thought about putting them up for adoption...? If they're too much for one manticore to manage, there might be other monsters who'd be willing to look after them.

Noa snorts- but then immediately huffs, rejecting the idea immediately.] No.
Squirt is too smart for that- they're not on the same level as normal animals, and besides, he's been here for years. The other three were mine to begin with, and Newf...
[...Well.] ...Frankly Newf looks after me if anything. ...Besides. How can I know if whoever takes them in won't just...disappear as well?

...but, you get lonely when you're up here on your own, don't you? It'd be nice, if you lived closer...people hang out on the roof of the 38-8, or in the rec room downstairs. And even if you don't run into anybody, it's not lonely at all, because there's always somebody home.

[....
It's worked, alone here, in a literal tower of glass meant to be ignored.]
...I would hardly be able to get all of this put into a normal apartment you know, [he mutters, grumbling. But then, Atem probably knows that it's not something he'll agree to immediately in any situation.]

...there's no reason you couldn't live in one part of the time. You can come back here, if you don't feel safe -- a day or two before the mid month fog is good -- and you can stay in the apartments when you're lonely.

[There is merit to what Atem is saying. The periods of extreme incident can be predicted, to a point, so he'd at least be able to take a guess and get back home. It's not something he's considered, though.
It's not something he's been offered.]
...I'll think about it, [he determines quietly.] ...For now however... ...thank you, for offering Atem.
